The Red Sea Crossings Mentoring and Scholarship Program (RSC) is our singular banner program for adults ages 18 and up. According to a 2009 Department of Labor Study, adult returning citizens with a mentor are 60% less likely to return to prison in the first six months and 70% more likely to get a job if they had a mentor in the preceding month. The RSC Mentoring Program will match you with a trained culturally competent mentor to provide support and to support you in your goals to find work, reunite with your family and to stay out of the criminal justice system.
When you get out of jail or prison, the following support and resources are critical to your success: structure (something to do on a regular basis), a new circle of friends, and gainful employment. In partnership with local congregations and community organizations, RSC provides structure and a new circle of friends through its mentoring and scholarship programs. Scholarships can be used for any bone fide educational or training program. Each year, we host three Welcome Back Celebrations (WBC) with local congregational partners. The WBC provides an opportunity for you to meet others exchange information and network. Over a meal and a rap session information on housing, jobs and the resources of our mission will be shared. Please see our online calendar for the next Welcome Back Celebration.
